Intramural Sports at OWU!

Ohio Wesleyan intramural sports give students a chance to connect with one another.

From volleyball and spikeball to cornhole and more, the program is designed to create

community within the student body.

The goal of intramural sports is simple: promote healthy lifestyles, friendly competition,

and connections throughout the community. Every student can participate, regardless of

skill level, creating a welcoming environment for athletes and non-athletes alike.

Nathan Ambler, the athletic director at Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity, explained the value of

getting involved in intramural sports.

“The best part of intramurals is how easy it is to sign up. You don’t need any prior

experience – you just need a group of friends and the willingness to show up and play

with your team. Intramurals are about having fun, not stressing over wins and losses.”

Mack Fincham, who recently joined the intramural volleyball team for Alpha Sigma Phi,

emphasized the sense of community that intramural sports provide.

“For me, playing volleyball has been a great way to meet people I wouldn’t normally talk

to on campus. When we’re playing games, everyone is cheering, laughing, and just

having an all-around great time. It feels less like a competition and more like a

community.”

Signing up is simple. Students can register their teams online through the OWU

intramural sports page or visit the Student Involvement Office in the Hamilton-Williams

Campus Center. Sports are organized by season, with fall offering 6v6 sand volleyball,

2v2 cornhole, and 2v2 spikeball. Each season offers both a regular season and play-off

tournaments, giving students plenty of fun opportunities to participate.

Beyond the games themselves, intramural sports help contribute to campus culture.

They give students a break from academics, promote active lifestyles, and create new

friendships. No matter the sport – students can find themselves not just playing, but

creating long-lasting memories on campus.
