Connection Between Local Church and the OWU Community

The diversity of campus allows cultures to be shared and celebrated, bringing students together from different backgrounds across different nations, all while creating spaces for those who share similar values and beliefs to connect more closely. Although OWU is a Methodist university, any religion is encouraged, welcomed, supported, and appreciated.

Here on campus grounds or down the road, students gather to create shared spaces within the Delaware community, providing a connection towards spiritual growth. About 2 miles west of campus lies Lifepoint Church, where many students come to celebrate the same God they believe in and support. Beyond the attendance, students are able to sing, pray, and worship while growing their faith hand in hand.

“Coming from a faithful family background that was surrounded by a church, it is so nice to have a place to visit outside of school to gather with teammates and friends,” states Kali Kohler ‘28.

Lifepoint helps foster a community of dedicated Christians around OWU and the city of Delaware. On occasion, Lifepoint will host events specifically for high school and college students, creating a group called The 18/25. This past August, hundreds of students came side by side to worship near HamWill, all organized by the church, ending with gifts, prizes, food, and unforgettable memories.

“I take pride in a church that cares about us college students and makes efforts to get us involved,” Kohler added. With other events that are to be hosted in the near future, regulars who attend are looking forward to it. With such welcoming arms, students and Delaware members are able to join a group that brings a sense of belonging and allows everyone to strengthen their faith.
