Behind-the-scenes in the Admissions Office

Ohio Wesleyan increased the number of admitted students in the 2025-2026 academic year by more than 200, and the reason for this accomplishment can be credited to the behind-the-scenes work at the Admissions Office. Current students often forget the importance of Admissions despite their enrollment process being complete.
The office is run by roughly 50 student employees who give daily tours, communicating and showcasing the unique qualities the university has to offer, along with the help of 10 or so counselors who explain more information on why attending OWU is the perfect choice. Not only are these employees doing daily tours, but the office also hosts Admitted Students Day in the fall and spring semesters.
Counselors, students, and team members build an entire jam-packed day filled with tours, mock classes with professors, an I-cubed lecture, speeches from student ambassador Carolina Sola and president Matt VandenBerg, all ending with a pep rally featuring prizes. To wrap up the day, a social lunch is held in Gordon Field House, where both the students and families can interact with many other offices or clubs/organizations around campus.
More than 75% of prospective students on tour voice interest in an extracurricular; whether it be from a varsity or club sport, Greek life, or student life outside of class. The most valuable and insightful information comes from the students who are involved in the organizations, and current students have the opportunity to volunteer to be a part of these special days.
Having the presence of those currently involved in these extracurricular activities not only allows these prospective students to interact and connect with individuals outside the admissions teams but also provides more reasons why OWU is so special.
If you ever feel called to share your reasons for being a student at OWU, along with your commitment and participation in a club or organization, consider giving your information to someone in the Admissions office.
For the students who have already participated or those who may find more interest in spreading love and enthusiasm about OWU, there are two summer positions, yet more will be open for application in the fall when student employment opportunities begin. Check back then and keep updated with the OWU Daily if all of this seems like the right fit for you.
