Are you worried about finding an internship or a job? Look no further than OWU’s Career Connections office, located on the second floor of Slocum Hall. OWU’s career connection team consists of multiple career catalysts who are trained to help educate students on career resources. These career catalysts can help students create or fine-

tune their resume, explore internship opportunities, apply for graduate school, find jobs, reach out to employers, connect with alumni, practice for interviews, and so much more.

Who you connect with at the Career Connection office depends on your major. Different staff members are in charge of certain career communities. These include careers with social impact, economics and business, education, entrepreneurship, exploratory, humanities and the arts, pre-health, and STEM. These categories are made to reflect the industry of work you are pursuing, rather than your major. To find which career catalyst aligns with your industry, visit careers.owu.edu

To connect with a Career Connection staff member, students can make an appointment via Handshake and schedule an appointment. Handshake is a website that is a great resource for connecting with people, learning about events, and even finding job/internship opportunities. Students can customize job openings by location, field, and level of commitment (full time, part time, internship).

On top of providing students with career guidance, OWU’s Career Connection also holds events throughout the year, designed to help students understand certain careers and develop important skills for applying for jobs. All upcoming events can be seen both on Handshake and the Career Connection website. OWU Career Connection is in charge of many notable campus programs such as the Bishop Launch Program, Real Life 101, the career fair, etc.

As you can see, OWU Career Connection plays a huge role in providing students with the tools and resources they need to be successful in pursuing their careers. Ohio Wesleyan is lucky to have such a valuable resource that gives students personalized guidance. It is approaching the time of year to begin the application process for summer internships. That being said, it is important to use your resources to your advantage and get ahead on important career pursuits. Reach out to the OWU Career Connection office today!
