Students Struggling With Recent Snowfall

A snow day sounds great on paper, but how has the snow truly impacted Ohio Wesleyan University students after the storm?
Peeking at a “Level 3 Snow Emergency” in Delaware County, students were stuck in their dorms with nowhere to go. Classes were cancelled on Monday, January 26th, which was the first time this has happened at OWU for many.
Senior Avery Slucher was very surprised to hear about the cancellation of classes.
“When I heard of the snowstorm we were getting this week, I swore to my friends that we wouldn’t get classes off because we haven’t in the past. I was pleasantly surprised we got a whole day and a half of classes cancelled, although local high schools got the whole week off,” said Slucher.
Students with vehicles had to face the difficulties of the storm by clearing off the snow. Plow trucks have left vehicles blocked in spots, causing stress for students in on-campus parking lots.
Sophomore Lilly Cadwell has been very upset regarding the recent parking situation due to the weather.
“The snow not being cleared correctly made it very difficult to find parking spots in any lot due to students not parking where they are supposed to. I received a ticket from Public Safety because there were no places to park, even though I paid for a parking pass,” said Caldwell.
Temperatures are predicted to remain freezing for weeks, allowing little hope for the snow to clear. Sidewalks on campus are roughly shoveled, with students catching themselves slipping on their way to classes.
Snow is continuing to fall in Delaware, so continue to stay prepared for the upcoming weather conditions.
