As the spring 2026 semester comes to a start, so does Primary Sorority Recruitment at Ohio Wesleyan University. Each January, this process marks one of the most talked-about and visible traditions on our campus.
By welcoming potential new members into the sorority culture, we are shaping the future representatives of these organizations.
The sororities participating in Partially Structured Recruitment this semester are Delta Gamma, Delta Delta Delta, Delta Zeta, Kappa Alpha Theta, and Kappa Kappa Gamma.
Recruitment events officially began on January 12th, 2026, and continued throughout the week, finishing off with Individual Bid Days on January 18th, 2026.
Partially Structured Recruitment is designed to introduce students to the values, sisterhood, and philanthropy each chapter has to offer. It gives the potential new members and the chapters the opportunity to connect with students seeking involvement and community.
This recruitment process highlights the role Greek life plays at a small liberal arts institution like Ohio Wesleyan University. It emphasizes belonging, service, and mutual selection, rather than exclusivity. Philanthropy and campus engagement are central themes, as sororities showcase their commitment to academic excellence and community involvement.
While the process can be emotionally demanding for both participants and members, it concludes in a Bid Day celebration that marks the beginning of new relationships and a new generation of sorority members at OWU.
Ultimately, this recruitment process serves as more than a week-long process; it helps shape part of the campus culture and fosters connections that will last a lifetime. I know every chapter at OWU is extremely grateful and excited for the members who are now a part of their own history.
