Recap: Denison defeats Bishops to claim the top seed heading into the NCAC tournament

In a thrilling showdown of the top 2 seeds in the upcoming NCAC men's lacrosse tournament, the Ohio Wesleyan Battling Bishops hosted the Denison Big Red, at historic Selby Stadium.

At the end of the first quarter, the score was 3-3, and after a defensive quarter, the Bishops held a 5-4 lead heading into the half. Scorers in the first half included Wade Beckstrom, Joey Wiseman, and Henry Ross.

At halftime, the focus shifted from the present Bishops to the past, where Ohio Wesleyan honored the men's lacrosse teams of 1987, 1988, 1989, and 1993. There was no shortage of alumni, as they packed the stadium behind the bench to cheer on the current team, adding an atmosphere unlike any other.

Unfortunately for the Bishops, the Big Red came out hot and owned the 3rd quarter from the opening whistle, where they went on a 6-goal unanswered run, ultimately ending on a last-second goal by Henry Ross.

Down 10-6 heading into the final quarter, the Bishops had to play catch up, and unfortunately, the comeback looked too large to overcome. The Big Red defeated the Bishops by a score of 10-8, to end the regular season for both teams.

The 2-seed Ohio Wesleyan will play the 3-seed Kenyon on Thursday, May 2nd in the NCAC semifinal, while Dension, who achieved the 1-seed, will play the 4-seed Wooster on the other side of the bracket.
