OWU English Department to host visiting writer Melissa Febos

The Ohio Wesleyan University English Department is ecstatic to welcome Melissa Febos, MFA, as a visiting writer in the Spring 2024 semester. Febos will be delivering the David G. Osborne lecture on February 29th, 2:00 to 3:10 pm, in Merrick Hall #301. Her presentation is titled ‘Body Work: The Power of Personal Writing’. 

Febos’s presentation will be followed by a book signing and Q and A session. This event is open to the public and is free of charge. 

Melissa Febos is a non-fiction essayist, and is the author of four books including two national bestsellers titled BODY WORK: The Power of Personal Narrative (2022) and GIRLHOOD (2021). Febos has published memoirs as well, titled ‘Abandoned Me’ and ‘Whip Smart’, along with non-fiction essays that have been published in New York Times, Times Magazine, Sewanee Review, Paris Review, Vogue, The Kenyon Review, and more. She has announced the publication of her next book, titled The Dry Season. 

She currently resides in Iowa City, where she is a full professor in the Non-Fiction Writing Program at the University of Iowa. 

Febos will be the second of the Visiting Writers Series, a series of presentations or readings hosted by the Ohio Wesleyan English Department each semester.
