Get Fit OWU!

Better sleep, less stress, improved mood, and healthier skin—sounds great, right? All of these benefits, and many more, are directly linked to regular exercise. Working out is a vital component of a healthy lifestyle and can be easily incorporated into your daily routine at Ohio Wesleyan University.

OWU offers a free gym to all students and faculty: the Simpson Querrey Fitness Center. This facility is equipped with a variety of fitness options, including a StairMaster, treadmills, ellipticals, various strength-training machines, and free weights. Having access to this space allows for a self-paced workout tailored to individual fitness levels and goals.

If a traditional gym setting isn’t your style, OWU provides other ways to stay active. One great option is the Meek Aquatics and Recreation Center, which is open to all students. This facility features a 10-lane pool, a 13-foot-deep diving well, and both 1-meter and 3-meter diving boards.

Swimming offers numerous benefits, including improved cardiovascular health, muscle toning, and enhanced joint mobility, as it provides a full-body workout with minimal impact on the joints.

Another way to stay active at OWU is through the FitOWU program. This initiative provides a variety of fitness programs throughout the academic year, including gentle/senior training, introductory and transitional training, advanced training, personal training, and yoga.

For those looking for a more relaxed way to stay active, a stroll around OWU’s scenic campus, a walk through downtown Delaware, or a visit to one of the many designated sports areas, such as the racquetball courts, tennis courts, or basketball court, are great options.

Physical activity is a crucial part of a healthy lifestyle, and OWU makes it accessible to all students. So get out, get moving, and take advantage of the opportunities to stay active at OWU!
