Bishops swim team takes on Denison

The Ohio Wesleyan women's swim team traveled to Granville on January 27th to take on the Denison Big Red swim team.

Coming into the meet, the Denison women were the top ranked team in the country. Although the Bishops lost, 150-89, there are positives to take away from the meet.

This meet against Denison gave them the opportunity to get a meet in the pool where they will be swimming at the NCAC championship in two weeks, as the conference championship will be hosted in Granville.

Sophomore Bella Guzzetta was able to help rack up points for the Bishops by placing second place in the 50 butterfly and third place in the 100 individual medley, along with Lily Davis placing third in the 50 backstroke and scoring first place points in the 100 freestyle relay along with her other teammates.

“Even though I wasn’t able to win my events this weekend, it was nice to have the opportunity to gain points for the team,” Guzzetta said.

Similarly, Davis was also happy that she was able to help the team. “It was nice to be able to win the 100 Free relay as we knew this would be a difficult meet as Denison is ranked number one in the country,” Davis said.

The Bishops will be working hard in the pool for the next two weeks as they prepare for the season concluding, NCAC Championship, which will take place February 14th through the 17th.
