Main Street Delaware is a non-profit organization in our own Delaware, Ohio. Main Street Delaware focuses on restoring and strengthening our downtown area. They are responsible for the fun-filled events like First Friday, the community Christmas celebration, and my favorite, the Farmer’s Market.
Main Street Delaware was founded in 2000 after many efforts to rebuild Downtown Delaware. This organization creates meaningful, quality partnerships with local businesses and government to maintain the history of Delaware while beautifying the city.
The creation of the Farmer’s Market emphasized local agriculturists and smaller businesses that are all centered around hard work and naturality, an idea that manager Frances Jo Hamilton tirelessly maintains.
This year’s Main Street Delaware Farmer’s Market begins Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm, continuing every Saturday until August 16, 2025.
The Farmer’s Market is a local favorite, with one Elizabeth L. from Columbus stating that “there is so much here, with so many vendors each time we go.” She also raves about the fair prices and the abundance of goods, such as “meats, cheeses, flowers, crafts, donuts, breads, organic homemade dog/cat food, and much more.”
Another local at the Farmer’s Market claims that “Main Street Delaware does so much behind the scenes. They are keeping Downtown alive while preserving its rich history, and they are invested in seeing success locally.”
For those who want to promote their own business or crafts, you can become a seller at our local Farmer’s Market! You can become a vendor for a weekend or for the full season. Though there is a small application fee, you could become the next biggest vendor at our market!
You can find more information about becoming a vendor, as well as more information about the Market as a whole, on the Main Street Delaware website: mainstreetdelaware.com
As college students, the Farmer’s Market has to be one of the most beneficial events for us as a community. You can get fresh, locally grown produce for an affordable price, as well as crafted goods from a small Delaware business. Although it runs in the summer, those living nearby should make the effort to visit. I can’t wait to see you all there!
