Escape the Campus Hustle: Visit Alum Creek State Park

If you are looking to break out of your daily routine, clear your mind, and swap textbooks for sunshine, Alum Creek State Park is calling your name.

Just a short drive from campus, Alum Creek State Park is a hidden gem that is perfect for a day trip to a weekend recharge. This spot has everything Battling Bishops need to unwind, while also being budget-friendly!

With warm weather ahead, you do not drive to the coast to find a beach. Alum Creek is home to the largest inland beach in the Ohio State Park system. That means plenty of room to sunbathe, play frisbee, or just lounge with friends.

Want to stay active? Try the family-friendly mountain bike trail or walk the half-mile Storybrook trail. It is a great way to move your legs without committing to a hardcore hike, perfect after a week of classes or lifting in SQ. On the other hand, the campground is massive, offering a low-cost overnight option complete with a camp store and nature center. Whether you are grilling out with your housemates or stargazing after a sunset, it is amazing.

Pack your hammock, bring your speaker, and do not forget sunscreen. Alum Creek is the off-campus spot you did not know you needed!
